Mode Rehabilitation Cottages

This project involved the sensitive refurbishment of two derelict cottages at the rear of a substantial residential plot, converting them into short-term housing for a mental health charity in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

The design approach focused on reinstating the cottages to contemporary living standards while respecting their original character. The existing roof required full replacement, and thermal performance was enhanced throughout, including upgraded wall insulation to meet modern standards. High-performance double glazing was also installed to improve energy efficiency and comfort.

Internally, the scheme provides four en-suite bedrooms and a shared kitchen, with the majority of co-living facilities integrated within the main residential property. The project demonstrates a considered balance between heritage retention, modern comfort, and functional co-living spaces.
